June 30, 2026 - Maintenance Industry

AMCC Symposium Returns November 30 with Gary Mar as Keynote Speaker

The world is changing faster than ever before. Labour shortages, global trade uncertainty, shifting investment patterns, demographic change and supply chain disruption are no longer isolated challenges. Together, they are reshaping the environment in which Canada's maintenance industry operates.

These forces will be the focus of the third annual AMCC Symposium, taking place November 30, 2026, in Calgary.

Presented under the theme The End of Stability as We Know It, this year's symposium will bring together leaders from industry, government, labour and academia to explore what these changes mean for Canada's maintenance contractors and the industries they support.

AMCC is pleased to announce that Gary Mar, President and CEO of the Canada West Foundation, will deliver this year's keynote address.

One of Western Canada's most respected public policy leaders, Mar brings decades of experience in government, international trade and economic development. As President and CEO of the Canada West Foundation, he provides leadership on the issues shaping the future of Western Canada's economy, including competitiveness, trade, investment, productivity and public policy.

His keynote will provide a broad perspective on the economic, geopolitical and policy trends influencing Canada's industrial future and the implications for businesses operating in an increasingly uncertain environment.

"Few industries have a clearer view of the changes taking place across Canada's industrial economy than maintenance contractors," said Shandra Linder, President of the Association of Maintenance Contractors of Canada. "Our members are managing workforce shortages, supporting critical infrastructure, responding to changing owner expectations and navigating a rapidly evolving business environment. The symposium will provide an opportunity to better understand these changes and discuss how our industry can prepare for the future."

The symposium will also feature additional speakers and a panel of experts representing owners, contractors, government and related sectors. Together, they will explore how organizations can prepare for a future where labour availability, industrial growth, technology, investment and global markets are increasingly interconnected.

The event builds on AMCC's growing leadership in advancing conversations around workforce readiness, labour relations and the future competitiveness of Canada's maintenance industry. Following the release of its One Industry. One Workforce. One Future. discussion paper and recent workforce discussions with government, owners and educational institutions, the symposium will continue exploring the practical actions industry can take to strengthen long-term resilience.

Additional speakers, registration information and the full agenda will be announced in the coming weeks.

We look forward to welcoming members and industry partners for a day of discussion about the forces shaping Canada's industrial future. Invitations will be coming out in the coming months.
