Bargaining Implementation and Highlights

With the successful conclusion of bargaining with the GPMC/NMC, we are pleased to share details of the new agreement effective January 2025 – December 2028. This process began with a strategic timeline, clearly defined dates, and milestones that were established several months prior to the formal bargaining sessions.

By setting a target for a signed agreement by November 15, 2024, and working backward, the AMCC Bargaining Committee created a proactive and structured negotiation process. From the outset, both parties agreed to key rules of engagement, set dates for proposal exchanges, and standardized the formatting and sharing mediums to streamline communications.

Our engagement with member companies through virtual meetings and feedback sessions shaped our priorities and strategies, leading to a day-long workshop that was instrumental in refining bargaining proposals based on real-world data and scenarios.

We’ll be releasing a document shortly to members: Key Highlights of Alberta GPMA/NMA Terms of Settlement 2025-2028, which outlines the major changes and updates resulting from our recent bargaining sessions. This document captures the essential financial adjustments, workforce management improvements, and revised policies that will govern our engagements over the next three years.

Features of the agreement include:

Improved productivity and cost savings
Prior to negotiations, AMCC conducted extensive research to understand the diverse concerns of all member companies, regardless of their size or scope. The insights gained enabled us to craft business case proposals that not only translated into significant cost savings through improved productivity measures but also ensured fair compensation for our workforce.

Labour Stability and Cost Predictability
These agreements as negotiated for 4-year term will allow for the promotion of Labour attraction as well as create a predictable costing model for operations.

Improved Workplace Harmony & Morale
A well-negotiated collective agreement fosters a positive work environment, reducing conflicts and increasing employee satisfaction. A mutually beneficial agreement strengthens trust and cooperation, supporting long-term organizational success.

Useability
These agreements have been reviewed extensively and language has been updated and simplified to provide greater clarity for users thereby removing interpretation barriers around application.
